Training at NCMT
Training is a fundamental part of how we support customers throughout the full lifecycle of their machine investment. What we describe as machine training and customer training refers to one integrated approach: structured, professional training that ensures people and machines work together effectively.
Our training programmes are designed to support safe operation, consistent quality, and long-term productivity. Delivered by experienced NCMT specialists, training is always aligned to the specific machine, CNC control, and production environment in which it will be used.
Why Training Is Central to NCMT

Training as a Core Part of Customer Success
We believe that training is essential to unlocking the full capability of high-technology machine tools. Regardless of machine specification, performance depends on how well the people using it understand the control, the processes and best practice operation.
Effective training helps you to:
- Reduce operational errors and unplanned downtime
- Improve part quality and repeatability
- Increase confidence in daily machine operation
- Protect machine condition and long-term reliability
- Maintain continuity as teams and requirements change
By embedding training into every machine installation and supporting customers with ongoing training as needed, we help create stable and skilled machining environments.
The Benefits of NCMT Training
Long-Term Value Through Structured Training
Training delivers measurable and long-lasting value across people, processes, and equipment. A well-trained team is better equipped to make informed decisions, respond to issues efficiently, and maintain consistent production standards.
The benefits of NCMT training include:
- Faster time to productivity following installation
- Reduced operational risk and machine misuse
- Improved machine utilisation and process stability
- Greater confidence across operator, engineering, and maintenance teams
- Long-term protection of machine investment
By taking a structured and integrated approach to training, NCMT supports customers in building capability that endures beyond the initial installation and adapts as requirements evolve.

Integrated Training from Day One
Every machine supplied by NCMT includes training as part of the installation process. This ensures that operators and engineers are able to work productively and safely from the earliest stages of machine use.
Training delivered at installation is structured to combine control understanding with practical operation, creating a balanced and effective learning process.
CNC Programming Training
Programming Training in a Focused Classroom Environment
Programming training is normally delivered at NCMT premises in a dedicated, classroom-based environment. This approach allows customers to learn without the pressures of live production and enables focused, structured learning.
Key characteristics of CNC programming training include:
- Delivered in a controlled classroom environment
- Focused on the specific CNC control and machine configuration
- Typically, lasting two to three days, can be extended depending on machine type and complexity
- Where appropriate, supported by access to machines for programme validation
- Long-term protection of machine investment

Operator Training on the Installed Machine

Practical Training in the Production Environment
Operator training is delivered on the customer’s own machine at their premises. This ensures that training is directly relevant to the exact machine configuration, tooling, and production processes in use.
Effective training helps you to:
- Operator training typically includes:
- Safe machine operation and daily routines
- Tool management and setup procedures
- Running, monitoring and adjusting jobs
- Practical guidance on avoiding common issues
Training duration is typically around five days. For more complex machines, this may extend to eight or ten days. NCMT recommends small, focused groups to ensure high-quality knowledge transfer and meaningful access to the machine.
Training Beyond Initial Installation
Supporting Customers Over the Machine Lifecycle
Training is not limited to the point of installation. NCMT regularly provides additional training to support customers as teams change, new staff join, or production requirements evolve. Where required, this additional training is available as a chargeable service, scoped to the specific needs of the customer.
This may include:
- Training for new operators or engineers
- Refresher training for existing teams
- Additional CNC programming training
- Additional CNC control training
- Support following changes in parts or processes
This training is delivered on a flexible basis, either at NCMT premises or at the customer site, depending on the requirement.

Maintenance-Focused Training

Supporting In-House Maintenance Capability
For customers with in-house maintenance teams, NCMT provides training focused on machine understanding, fault diagnosis, and preventative maintenance.
This training supports:
- Safe access to machine systems and control functions
- Understanding machine architecture and operation
- Identification and resolution of common issues
- Best practice preventative maintenance
Maintenance-focused training is tailored to the machine and customer requirements and delivered in small groups to maintain focus and safety.
Application and Process Support
Training Linked to Real Manufacturing Challenges
NCMT training is closely aligned with real production requirements. Where customers introduce new parts, processes, or machining strategies, training and support can be provided to ensure a smooth transition into production.
This may include:
- CNC control and process support for new components
- Application engineering linked to existing machines
- Turnkey support as part of a machine solution
- On-site validation to reduce risk and improve confidence
This practical approach ensures that training directly supports productivity and quality outcomes.

Training Across Machine Technologies
NCMT delivers comprehensive service and spares support across the full lifecycle of machine tools, automation systems and turnkey production lines.
Training is always:
- Machine-specific and application-aware
- Delivered by experienced NCMT specialists
- Aligned with real production environments
- Focused on long-term performance and reliability
Arranging Additional Training
Additional training can be arranged at any stage of the machine lifecycle. Customers are encouraged to contact their local NCMT sales representative, who will coordinate requirements with the appropriate technical teams.
