The latest possibilities when turn-milling components on the multi-function Okuma Multus U4000 lathe platform will be the sole focus of a workshop to be held at the Coventry showroom and technical centre of NCMT, sole agent in the UK and Ireland for the Japanese machine tool manufacturer.
To be held on Tuesday 8th March from 10.30 am until after lunch, the event is being organised to present advanced functionality applicable not only to the U4000, but also to most machines in the Okuma range, including machining centres. Those interested in attending should telephone Samantha Andon on 020 8398 4277 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Hallmarks of the event will be brevity, allowing visitors to return to work or at least not to have to stay overnight, and content of a highly technical nature. It will cover, for the first time on a lathe, turn-cut profiling of IDs and ODs by interpolating the machine’s linear axes. Included also will be turning difficult-to-machine materials while rotating the B-axis motor spindle to improve tool life, programming and machining of gears, chatter suppression, collision avoidance and 5-axis auto-tuning.
Presented also will be the advanced capabilities of the latest OSP Suite CNC system, which Okuma manufactures in-house along with practically every other element of its machine tools, including the encoders and drives.
