FENN TOOL to sell Speroni tool presetters

A new force has emerged in the sale of tool presetting equipment in the UK and Ireland, following an agreement between cutting tool supplier, Fenn Tool, and NCMT, the main agent for Italian-manufactured Speroni tool presetters. They are available as manual, motorised and automatic systems and are renowned for their highly accurate, thermally stable, pearlitic cast iron structures.
Under the terms of the agreement, effective from 1st October 2013, Fenn Tool will act as an additional sales agent for Speroni equipment, sourcing it through NCMT, which then be responsible for installation, commissioning and service.
Graham Curry, Managing Director of Fenn Tool, commented, "Both NCMT and we feel that together we are considerably more than the sum of our parts in this venture.
"Fenn Tool brings to this activity an in-depth knowledge of the market from the tooling standpoint and a dozen time-served sales engineers, well versed in the latest cutter and toolholder technologies. We can therefore add value with applications engineering, especially as we previously sold other makes of presetter for more than a decade.
"NCMT will continue to install and service all Speroni equipment, which is an ideal situation because they have a nationwide network of engineers who also service machine tools from their other principals, including Makino and Okuma.
"From the perspective of a Speroni customer, it will now have access to the best of machine tool, cutting tool and presetting expertise, which is ideal for the supply of turnkey installations."
David James, Director - Tooling Division at NCMT, added, "Speroni is one of the top three global manufacturers of presetters in terms of quality, reliability and precision. After calibration, they do not drift over the course of a shift on the shop floor.
"Machine tool uptime is maximised, as direct transfer of reliable offset data to the machine tool control means that the cycle is always ready to run as soon as the tool is in the magazine. Additionally, in many cases, scrap rates can be significantly reduced by precise presetting."
The first public appearance of a Speroni tool presetter under the Fenn Tool banner will be at the Advanced Engineering UK Show later this year on stand C78, Hall 5, NEC, Birmingham, 12/13 November 2013. The company will also use this platform to promote its other product ranges, underlining its development since 1982 into one of the largest independent cutting tool suppliers to UK manufacturers, both large and small.
Fenn Tool's agencies, all very longstanding, include Maykestag milling and drilling cutters, Sphinx micro and special drills, Haimer spindle tooling, shrinking and balancing technology, Dümmel indexable grooving systems, and Hahnreiter taps. Since 2000, carbide tools under the Fetoga brand name have been manufactured by the company at its headquarters in Braintree, Essex. Other activities involve the nationwide supply of the full range of Kennametal products, and the installation of integrated tool management and inventory control systems.
